Default Voluntary work, possible employer

On my H4 I volunteered for a not for profit organization.
I stopped volunteering once I applied for AOS. I am presently awaiting my EAD.
The same not for profit org I had formerly volunteered for have now offered me the opportunity to do some paid consultancy work for them, once I receive employment authorization. Am I allowed to accept it? Would this look like I had formerly volunteered my services for benefit?
Please advise
